It all starts with 3 or 4 separate drawings that are cut out then glued randomly onto a sheet of art paper. What could that be? I wonder then start drawing whatever comes to mind.

Thank you Alice for starting this new stream about Fantasy Art! Can you tell us a bit more about what fantasy and fantasy art mean to you? – Did fantasy ever help you past tough times? Please post some of you art and tell us about it – and your process if you can.
Yes, fantasy art helps take my mind away from the difficulties in life. I can go to places where there are no thoughts and enjoy whatever happens on the page…no worries… complete with comedy, new and old vistas, meditation on the page, discovering color all over again like a child just entering the world.
Yes – all this for me as well – as Tolkien said – sure fantasy is escapist – it is our duty – like escaping from prison and taking everyone with us who we can! I love Lloyd Alexander too – who said fantasy is a metaphor for everything in our lives!
I may be missing something, but that kitty looks very wide awake to me.
At the Tendai Buddhist temple complex in Nikko, Japan, there is a famous carving of a sleeping cat over one of the gates. The surrounding archway is decorated with elaborately painted carvings of birds. The sleeping cat thus symbolises what can flourish when we put the violent part of our nature to rest. Oyasuminasai — good night!
